In vitro production of cat-restricted Toxoplasma pre-sexual stages

Researchers have made significant strides in understanding the sexual reproduction of Toxoplasma gondii, a parasitic pathogen responsible for toxoplasmosis. They investigated the role of transcription factors AP2XII-1 and AP2XI-2 during the tachyzoite stage, a crucial phase in the parasite’s life cycle. The research provides insights into the epigenetic rewiring orchestrated by AP2XII-1 and AP2XI-2.

This study utilized IonOpticks 25cm columns for proteomic analysis, advancing our understanding of Toxoplasma’s sexual development without the need for cat as model organisms.
