As a major sponsor, IonOpticks welcomed the world at IMSC in Melbourne

We’re back at IonOpticks Headquarters in Melbourne, after IMSC 2024 on home soil. Our deepest thanks to the organisers of the 25th International Mass Spectrometry Conference for being great hosts and putting on such an incredible event in our home town of Melbourne.

It’s nice to dive straight into follow-ups and new collaborations without battling travel fatigue. The perks of a hometown conference keep on giving! To everyone who visited Melbourne, it’s been a pleasure catching up, showing you around, and we hope you made the most of both the conference and your stay.

Thank you to the IMSC 2024 event organizers for a superb event that also gave researchers from around the world a taste of Australia. Without a new city to explore and a long flight back home, it feels like something’s missing, but it’ll be our turn to travel again for the next conference: HUPO 2024 in Dresden, Germany.

Dr Jarrod Sandow attends HPLC 2024, in Colorado.

Jarrod stepped out from behind the exhibition booth this year to dive deep into HPLC 2024 in Denver, Colorado, as a delegate. He spent the week soaking in the latest innovations, insights, and advancements in HPLC, and networking. With several scientists spotting him wearing his IonOpticks shirt, he had great chats about all things chromatography.

IonOpticks supports Karl Mechtler & IMP at ESCP, in Vienna

Auf Wiedersehen, Wien! Thanks for having us.

ESCP 2024 comes to an end and, with it, another insightful look at the state and future directions of single-cell proteomics. We never get tired of the amazing chats we have with enthusiastic scientists.

Seeing Aurora Series columns being mentioned in keynotes and posters from leading and emerging researchers around the world continues to demonstrate why we need to place more and more focus on improving separation. Just look at the great data we’ve seen this week – testament to the increasing recognition that good chromatography matters.

Now, we look forward to HUPO 2024 in Dresden, Germany.

Nice to ‘sea’ you at our second User Appreciation Event.

IonOpticks’ User Appreciation Event at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium was attended by over 160 guests with the venue filled to capacity – creating an electric atmosphere. The stunning backdrop, showcasing the majesty of Australia’s unique marine life, provided a picture-worthy and memorable setting to have deep discussion in front of.

The evening was highlighted by two captivating presentations. Distinguished guest speaker Prof. Jesper V. Olsen delivered an insightful single-cell showcase, demonstrating the cutting-edge applications of our technology. Complementing this scientific focus, Olivia Hill from SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium gave an energetic and entertaining talk about Australia’s unique marine life, including some creatures with surprisingly colorful and NSFW names.

Exceeding 1000 cells per day – scalable single cell analysis using the Evosep Whisper Zoom method on the timsTOF Ultra 2

Our columns were featured in Bruker’s latest application note, which demonstrates a significant leap in single-cell proteomics throughput, analyzing 1080 individual samples in a single day. A great app note that shows the potential for high-throughput single-cell proteomics, particularly the capacity to enable large-scale experiments with improved statistical power. This approach is critical for elucidating cellular heterogeneity in ultra-high sensitivity applications.

IonOpticks joins Westgate Biodiversity for community environment day

Sustainability is more important now than ever. And while it’s something we live and breathe in both our product design and across our operations, it’s always humbling to connect the practices to the environment we’re all trying to preserve. So, for this month’s team building day, we volunteered with Westgate Biodiversity to learn how to preserve and care for the native plants and gardens around Westgate Park – a unique natural wonder hidden underneath the infamous Westgate Bridge in Melbourne’s port district.

On a cold and foggy winter day, we collected seeds, planted new trees, weeded, and cleared a small section of the park to make way for a new section of vegetation. The sun did eventually come out, so despite the time of year, our vitamin D tanks were certainly refilled.

It also was interesting to see who among us already had a hidden talent for horticulture. Thank you to Westgate Biodiversity for having us, teaching us, and inviting us into the natural hidden gem that grows beneath the Melbourne metropolis – because of you.

In another look behind the scenes at IonOpticks, we gathered in August for our regular company showcase. With a crowded room, the move to our new facility can’t come fast enough. We had a packed agenda: welcoming new members, updates on each team’s initiatives, and let’s not forget our regular sugar fix from local bakeries.

We started with our latest team members introducing themselves, including Paul, Holly, Zuzana, Karen and our facility project manager, David. This is a chance for us to not just get to know each other professionally, but personally. Our teams then took turns providing insights into what’s new in their worlds – Production, Product Development, Finance, and Brand. One of the more exciting updates this time: our new site. This new, significantly bigger premises will house IonOpticks’ manufacturing facility, R&D lab, and corporate HQ – all under one roof.

Besides being a great way to look back and celebrate the hard work we’ve been doing, it’s also a look ahead. And, with our big move slated for later this year – a bright future indeed.
