IonOpticks is pleased to announce the appointment of Sebastiaan (Bas) Garst as Product Director, marking an important milestone in the company’s continued expansion and commitment to advancing innovation in proteomics and analytical sciences. This senior leadership role within the product development team will be instrumental in progressing IonOpticks’ product pipeline, managing portfolio growth, and supporting the company’s ambitious plans for global impact.

With more than two decades of experience in product development, manufacturing, and commercial leadership across the life science and medical diagnostic device industries, Bas brings extensive knowledge that aligns with IonOpticks’ strategic direction. Most recently serving as Global Head of Product Development at a leading CDMO, he has demonstrated the ability to lead large cross-functional teams while managing complex development portfolios. Throughout his career, Bas has delivered numerous product launches from concept through to commercialisation, driving manufacturing revenue and building long-term client partnerships through technical expertise, commercial insight, and strong team leadership.

Bas’s appointment reflects IonOpticks’ focus on strengthening its leadership capability as the company grows to meet increasing international demand for its high-performance chromatographic solutions. His experience in managing technically complex programs within regulated markets and leading skilled technical teams will play a central role in advancing IonOpticks’ mission to enable researchers and enhance analytical performance. As Product Director, Bas will guide the development of IonOpticks’ product roadmap, balancing scientific precision with operational efficiency and customer-focused innovation.

Bas holds a Master and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and has completed executive training through the AGSM General Manager Program at UNSW. Outside of work, he is an avid traveller with an interest in architecture, design, and local culture.
