IonOpticks will bring Peaks and Pints to Basel, Switzerland, for an engaging evening of science, conversation, and connection at Klara, Basel.
As part of our global, roving event series, Peaks and Pints is a free event and is designed to bring researchers together in a relaxed and social setting. Hosted across Europe, North America, APAC, and beyond, the series creates opportunities to connect with fellow scientists, IonOpticks users, and our team over drinks and light food – on us.
For our Basel gathering, we are pleased to welcome guest speakers Laurine Lagache and Tristan Cardon (University of Lille, PRISM Inserm), who will share insights from their research and real-world applications. Whether you are troubleshooting separations, exploring new workflows, or simply curious about what other labs are working on, this event creates space to exchange ideas, share experiences, and build meaningful connections within the local research community.

Revealing the Cancer Cell Ghost Proteome: Expanding Proteome and Immunopeptidome Landscapes by Mass Spectrometry using IonOpticks Columns
What if our current view of the proteome has been incomplete since the advent of mass spectrometry based proteomics? By integrating the ghost proteome, we move beyond classically annotated proteins to include non-canonical proteins derived from genomic regions traditionally considered non-coding. Characterizing these overlooked proteins is particularly critical when they contribute to immune recognition through presentation by MHC molecules.

Large-Scale MS-Based Spatial Proteomics with SpiderMass
The SpiderMass large-scale MS-based spatial proteomics technique enables high-resolution spatial proteomics with minimal sample preparation, supporting routine clinical use. By exploiting glass transparency, backside irradiation directs tissue ablation toward the slide surface for efficient material collection and comprehensive omics analysis. Optimized on fresh-frozen and FFPE rat brain tissues, the method identified over 4,000 proteins from a 600 µm spot with high reproducibility. Reducing the laser spot to 100 µm achieved single-cell–level resolution; to compensate for the lower material input, IonOpticks columns were used to increase proteome depth, further enhancing protein identification and the analysis of tissue heterogeneity.

About the presenters
A/Prof Tristan Cardon is a researcher at PRISM, Université de Lille / Inserm U1192, working across alternative proteins, immunopeptidomics, and crosslink‑MS to uncover new layers of biological insight in cancer and inflammation. He’s the French Proteomic Society Thesis Award recipient, serves as FPS Secretary, and contributes to the EuPA communication board. Tristan brings a sharp scientific perspective and a genuine passion for community‑driven proteomics.
Dr Laurine Lagache is a proteomics researcher at PRISM, Université de Lille / Inserm U1192, working across quantitative MS, cancer biology, and advanced workflow development. Her research focuses on generating high‑quality proteomic data to uncover molecular mechanisms in complex biological systems. Laurine brings a practical, bench‑level perspective and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing knowledge within the proteomics community.
